The Tech Effect on Connection

Have you ever stopped to think about how social media has changed the way we perceive ourselves and our actions? In this episode, I’m exploring the topic of relationships and how they are affected by the “wild west” of the online landscape. I’m not here to offer a quick fix – I wish there was one, believe me – but instead, I want to raise awareness about the challenges we face now and in the future when it comes to how technology is affecting our connections with each other – and ourselves.

I’ll be sharing some of the many ways that our online behaviour is eroding the relationships with those around us, and explore the idea that it’s not too late to catch ourselves and make conscious choices for future generations. If relationships are important to you (ie. if you’re a human), this is an episode you won’t want to miss.

And as with everything I share on the podcast, this is what I believe based on what I’ve read and researched. But please don’t take my word for it. Keep what sticks, discard the rest and for goodness sakes, go out and test drive it!

What You’ll Learn In Today’s Episode:

  • What the Online Disinhibition Effect is and how it relates to our online persona.

  • What it means to be part of the “straddle” generation.

  • How our online behaviour is eroding the connections we have.

  • Why it’s not too late to change course.
